Applications are now open for the Google Africa Applied AI Lab, a pioneering co-development accelerator designed to support founders across the continent building innovative, AI-native startups.
Based at the Accra AI Community Centre (AICC) in Ghana, the lab provides a zero-to-one commercialization platform, bridging the gap between world-class foundational research and market-ready products to address uniquely African challenges.
Programme Support
Selected founders will receive highly customized, structured support aimed at accelerating product development and investor readiness.
Exclusive Model Access: Startups will receive early access to cutting-edge models from Google DeepMind (such as Gemini, Gemma, and Veo) to experiment with commercial use cases before they are released to the general market.
Expert Mentorship: Participants will receive hands-on technical advisory and go-to-market support from Google Research and global Google teams.
Funding & Network Access: Founders will gain curated access to leading VCs and may be eligible for direct funding from the Google AI Futures Fund and partner venture capital firms.

Eligibility
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Must be a current full-time founder or a top researcher aiming to become a startup founder.
- Must be building high-impact solutions targeting challenges across the African continent within the focus sectors.
- Must commit to using Google AI models in a materially impactful way within their product architecture.
- Startups from Pre-Seed to Series C+ are welcome. While commercial traction is preferred, all founders with a clear vision and strong execution plan will be considered.

Product Demo Day
At the end of the initial co-development period, selected founders will present their work at an in-person product demo day at the Accra AI Community Centre in Ghana.
