Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, who helped co-found two of Africa’s unicorns, Andela and Flutterwave, has resigned from the Board of Directors of Nigerian educational publisher Learn Africa Plc after six years as a Non-Executive Director.
Learn Africa disclosed the resignation in a regulatory filing submitted to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on September 8, with Aboyeji’s departure taking effect on September 7, 2026.
However, Aboyeji’s LinkedIn profile indicates that his role with the company ended in July 2026. While the company, which was incorporated in August 1961 as Longman Nigeria, did not disclose the reason for his resignation, the board thanked Aboyeji for his service and strategic guidance during his time with the company.
The company said his contributions had been instrumental to Learn Africa’s growth and its expansion into the educational technology space.
Aboyeji leaves Learn Africa after six years on its board
Aboyeji joined Learn Africa’s board on August 6, 2020, serving as the company’s Non-Executive Director for roughly six years before his resignation.
His time on the board coincided with Learn Africa’s efforts to strengthen its position in an education sector increasingly shaped by technology and digital learning.
Learn Africa, which describes itself as Nigeria’s largest educational publisher, has more than 5,000 titles and a workforce of over 210 employees, according to company information previously reported by Premium Times.
The company was incorporated in 1961 as a book publishing business and has since expanded beyond traditional publishing to include educational content and technology-driven learning initiatives.
The firm has undergone several transformations over its more than six decades of operation. In 1996, it was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and later transitioned to Learn Africa in 2011. In 2024, the company launched an AI-powered mobile application, further strengthening its digital learning strategy and expanding its push into education technology.

From Andela and Flutterwave to Future Africa
Aboyeji leaves the Learn Africa board with a career that includes some of Africa’s most prominent technology companies.
He co-founded Andela, a company that trained African software developers and connected them with global technology companies. He later co-founded Flutterwave, the African payments technology company.
Aboyeji is currently the General Partner and Co-founder of Future Africa, an investment platform that provides capital, operational support and other resources to entrepreneurs building technology-enabled businesses across the continent.
He is also the co-founder and founding investor of Learn2Earn, a platform he founded in 2025 with Kesiah Valkin that focuses on helping young people access education, skills development and pathways to income and employment.
His departure from Learn Africa ends his formal role with the educational publisher after six years, as the company continues to expand its operations across Nigeria’s education, publishing and digital learning markets.
