How African startups can join the KPMG global tech innovator 2026 competition

The KPMG Private Enterprise Global Tech Innovator 2026 is a global startup competition organized by KPMG International in collaboration with KPMG Professional Services. The program is designed to identify and spotlight early-stage and scale-up technology companies with strong innovation potential, scalable business models, and proven market traction.

The competition runs across multiple countries including Nigeria and culminates in a global final scheduled for November 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal, where selected startups pitch before a panel of international judges, investors, and industry leaders.

Applications officially open on 19 May 2026 and close on 19 July 2026.

How Startups Can Apply for the KPMG Global Tech Innovator 2026

Interested startups must complete and submit an online application form via the official KPMG GTI application platform before the deadline.

The application process includes:

Filling out a detailed startup profile and pitch submission
Demonstrating product innovation and business traction
Providing evidence of market potential and growth strategy

After submission, applications are reviewed and shortlisted startups are invited to participate in their country-level competition, which may include local heats and a national pitch event scheduled for September 2026.

Successful national winners will advance to the global final in Lisbon in November 2026.

Startups must ensure they have reliable internet access and the required tools to participate in both virtual and in-person stages of the competition.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the competition, startups must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a registered for-profit company in one of the participating countries (including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, UK, US, UAE, and others)
  2. Be in operation for 7 years or less
  3. Generate annual revenue between $1 million and $15 million, OR have raised at least $500,000 in equity funding
  4. Be a technology-driven, tech-enabled, or pure tech business
  5. Not be majority-owned by a large corporate organization
  6. Applicants must be 18 years or older and residents of the country they are applying from
  7. Each company is allowed only one entry
  8. KPMG employees, contractors, and audit clients (or affiliates) are not eligible to apply

  • Innovation and disruption
  • Market potential
  • Traction and momentum
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Customer focus and risk awareness
